Storm Approaching

On a Saturday in mid-May several years ago, we went to the Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners, Wisconsin in the middle of the afternoon. There were clouds in the distance, and we hoped to get a quick visit in before the storm arrived. As it turned out, we only had an hour. We stayed relatively close to the entrance, in case we had to make a dash back to the car.

Within 10 minutes of this shot, we knew we had to leave for the parking lot or we would be soaked. With the changing light, I just had to stop to get a few more shots. I mean, really, look at the light here!

This last photograph was the last shot I was able to get before making a run to the car. We made it just in time! It was starting to sprinkle as we ran to the parking lot and it was raining by the time we got into the car. Even if I had gotten wet before reaching the car, stopping for this photograph would have made it all worth it.
